Equal Rights

Marty wholeheartedly supports equal rights for all Massachusetts citizens and is endorsed by the state’s largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender organizations, including MassEquality and the Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus.

She supports equal marriage rights for all people and is proud to have voted to stop the proposed constitutional amendment that would have put the civil rights of gay and lesbian people who wish to marry on the ballot. She also voted to repeal a 95 year-old law that prevented gay and lesbian couples living outside of Massachusetts from marrying in the Commonwealth.

Because Marty believes all people regardless of their gender identity or gender expression, including transgender people, deserve the same rights and protections under the law as all other residents, she is a co-sponsor of An Act Relative to Gender-Based Discrimination and Hate Crimes.
