Marty was the lead sponsor of legislation to update the state’s public charities law. The new law adds important safeguards and oversight, including providing donors with better information about the charities to which they contribute and new fees that better reflect the cost of meaningful oversight.

To protect us from the growing problem of identity theft, Marty supported comprehensive legislation that requires notice to individuals whose personal information has been wrongfully obtained or lost, allows consumers to put security freezes on their accounts to reduce the risk of identity theft, and sets standards for the disposal of records containing personal data.

Because adults should decide how they want to purchase the wines that they enjoy, Marty co-sponsored legislation to allow Massachusetts residents to have wine shipped to them from anywhere in the country. This would eliminate unnecessary restrictions on wine shipments from out-of-state vineyards.
